I previously wrote about some of my paper craft things, as well as the keychain I helped Girafa produce.
Now that I had a fantastic 3D model of the character, I decided to see if I could use PepaKura to covert it into a paper-craft mask. PepaKura is a really cool software that let's you take 3d models and turn them into PDFs that you can print out and fold to recreate the 3D models in real life.
I took my base model and re-topologized it to be low poly & sent it to the printer. Once it was assembled, I spray painted it yellow and painted on the details manually. It came out great!
I sent the results to Girafa and he decided to run a contest! I put together an instructional video, which he shared on his website. Then gave his fans on Instagram a few weeks to assemble their own. Not too many completed the mission, but a couple came out great!
