I previously wrote about the 8BitDo Ultimate 2X Wireless controller, which I really enjoyed.

When I got a chance to review the 8BitDo Ultimate mini, I took the opportunity.

This thing is pretty cool!

First, it has the same benefits of the other controller - great joysticks, a great d-pad, and a great hand feel.

But, the thing is, it really is mini! It's a bit too small for my hands, but not uncomfortably so. It does fit in my hands nicely, and once I'm busy playing with it it's easy to forget it's size, but when you first pick it up, it does feel a bit awkwardly small. That said, it's a great travel controller, taking up less precious room in your bag.

Another difference from it's bigger brother is that it's wired - which is fine by me. I usually don't buy wireless controllers because I hate charging, so I'm used to wired. But it works fine for me.

It's also missing the L4 and R4 buttons, and has a standard layout with shoulder bumper-buttons & triggers.

Perhaps the coolest feature of this controller, though, is the lighting. It's got a clear transparent shell, and lights up when plugged in. It looks fantastic!

Overall, I really enjoy this controller, but it wont replace my Ultimate 2X Wireless, it's a nice back up.
