Graffiti Canyon

Graffiti Canyon

After exploring under the freeway, I decided to check out a building that had some graffiti on it. It lead me to a path that went off into the woods. Eventually it turned into a tunnel which lead to a canyon. It was about 50 feet or more below grade. I stumbled on a long stretch of abandoned tracks. Some of the tracks were still there, but overgrown with brush, while the rest of the tracks I assume were removed. It was an oddly satisfying environment to explore, unlike anything I’ve experienced before. On both sides of me were tall stone cliffs, with Jersey City on top. On the canyon floor there were plants and trees growing, and a creek flowing over and through the tracks. I went as far as I could, and it went underground several times. The tunnels were home to some of the more creative graffiti I’ve seen since moving east. Enjoy:
